random thought/joke of the day
I got a henna tatoo. It said: ‘Forever’.
Memorial Day Weekend
The weather didn’t cooperate all weekend, but I must say I had a lot of fun!
Friday night I had dinner with friends and saw a 945 showing of Star Wars. Excellent movie, but it was so late that towards the end I fell a little bit asleep =P
Saturday I did go into work for a couple of hours.. but by 2p I went to hang out with friends at the pool for the rest of the day.. then we grilled out, and played tennis. Capped the evening with a trip to coldstone creamery for ice cream. Beautiful.
Sunday.. Church, and a “cookout” at Russ and Eric’s. Or, since the weather was nasty, you cold call it a hangout with a bunch of people. Good times, but kinda subdued with the weather. I know we all wanted to be out by the pool! Had dinner at Felini’s with H.
Monday, went to a ladies apartment where our small groups hung out all day. Again, we planned for a cookout, but ended up ordering pizza and playing board games =) We were all there from 1p to 9p. I’d say it went well! The most interesting thing was talking to the ladies about relationships. People from both sexes were asking questions about why we all do the things we do.. very informative, very interesting.
I try to stay away from calendar-like reading journal entires, but it’s the best way to recap a three day weekend for sure.
Everything else is all good =) Summer Friday’s start again this week for me, so I can’t complain about an extra short week!
Single Theory
Sometimes I think guys and girls chase after each other just so they’ll have something to talk about with their friends. A friend of mine has been trying to get this girl, but if she actually showed complete interest the game would be over.
Relationships are all one big game. I’m amazed anyone dates at all given you have to look right, and say the right things.. and even those don’t matter unless you have good timing.
The underlying factor in my group of friends is that people think about this kind of stuff, but no one is actually dating anyone. At least only the very few are. At some point after college I’d thought that people would just start paring off, but two years later we’re all still single.
Obviously looking at marriage down the line it looks great, but I really enjoy being single right now. Lots of friends, and fun with nothing holding anyone back. Good to know it’s only for a season, but I do enjoy it.
Memorial day is coming up, and I have no plans at all. Cookout at Russ’s on Sunday, but that’s it. Hopefully I’ll get to play a lot of tennis, and get sunburned by some pool. It’ll be fantastic.
Lake!
I spent all of Saturday at Cole’s Lake House on Lake Rabun, and it was magical. Fusion20 leadership spent the day up there as an end of the year party, and we just had so much fun.
At one point some girls were sitting on a large raft in the lake, and we were on the second story of the dock about 50 feet away. We had extra lunch, so the guys decided to start throwing food at them. It started with rolled up buns, progressed into barbecue chicken, and culminated with a baked bean bomb. It was hysterical.
Got home just in time to catch up with some of the guys from my small group who were having a pseudo-mixer with another girls small group. Good times.
Afterwards I went to hang out with Amanda (pictured at the top of the page) who was in town for the weekend. I also had dinner with her, her cousin, and her cousin’s friend on Friday night.
Sunday was killer because I didn’t get enough sleep, and the sun takes so much out of you that I felt like jello all day Sunday.
Monday always comes too soon…
Random Thought: Why do people that represent hispanic TV stations, even when they are clearly not hispanic, feel the need to begin and end every email with Hola, and Gracias?
Moving Part 2
Talked to Wheeler, and me not living in his basement of terror looks like it’ll be a mutual decision. It was good to hear, but a scary phone call to make. He’s still my boy and all, but I really think we’d kill each other if we lived together. The good news, is that I’ve found somewhere else to live.
The now and final plan is to live with David Harper. Another one of the guys from Buckhead Church, who’s current roomate is leaving to go back to Athens for an MBA. Incidentally David was also on a Fox reality show last fall – “My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss”. He lives in Ashford Park, which is the neighborhood I’d like to buy in eventually so I like that a lot. Move in mid-June.
Here’s to new roomates.. and new adventures!
Moving
This weekend I helped out Wheeler, a friend of mine from high school, move in to a house that he closed on Friday. It’s a really cool bungalow style house in Underwood Hills, near the intersection of Collier and Howell Mill.
My lease ends mid June, and the idea was to move in with Wheeler into the finished basement in the house. When I went to see the house on Friday, it looks like the “finished basement” is more like a regular basement with carpet and thin 70′s faux wood walls. Needless to say I don’t think I’m going to be moving into that. He’s got a second bedroom in the house that he’s planning as a guest bedroom that I’m going to lobby for or start looking somewhere else.
