Bravo
Take away my man card… please.
I can’t get enough of the show “Blow Out” on Bravo. It’s a reality show about Jonathan Anton’s life. He owns two hair salons in LA, and he is also launching a product line of hair care products. Believe it or not, but the fascinating thing about the show is the business aspects of it. The product line being launched, and how he manages his two salons. It’s just really interesting.
I also started watching another show on Bravo and fallen in love: “Situation Comedy”. It’s a reality show about two teams making a comedy television show and competeing against each other to win getting picked up by NBC. Again, the draw for me is the business and production end of the series… just fascinating.
Flat Tire
I probably shouldn’t admit this, but for whatever reason I always seem to make it through life landing on my feet. It’s quite uncanny, and something I’m very thankful for, but every time it happens it always amazes me.
I was driving to dinner tonight, and took a corner a little to sharp. Hit the curb pretty hard and heard a noise that didn’t sound so good. I keep on driving and about two blocks later I hear ‘tha-thump, tha-thump’. I know the streets here in Atlanta aren’t great, but I knew something was wrong. Pull off on a side street and park to examine the dammage. Flat tire. Not loosing air flat.. Dead flat. At this point I’m two blocks away from the resturaunt, so I walk in to eat. One of the guys I at dinner had a roadside assistance plan through cingular, so I called and aranged someone to come out to change the tire. (Ok, I know what you’re thinking.. ‘little girly man can’t change his own tire?’ In this case, no, I didn’t have a jack..) As we finished dinner the guy who is coming to help calls and I meet him outside, he changes the tire and I’m on my way.
Some people get a flat tire, and it ruins their day. But what happens when I get a flat tire? I go to dinner, and someone else comes to change it for free (to me). Amazing.
I’m totally taken back at how fortunate I was, and at the same time very thankful!
Dry Erase Wisdom
All wisdom in this world originated from a dry erase board. Every place I’ve lived outside of my parents house has had one, and they all serve the same purpose of distrbuting nuggets of gold and enlightenment to it’s inhabitants. Well, that and for distributing the utility bills to the roomates.. but I digress. Yesterday I came home to:
“The right girl at the wrong time is the wrong girl”
After letting that sink into my skull and into the depths of my thoughts a reply leapt into my heart that I felt required to reply (or because I’m a smartass)…
“The wrong girl at any time is also the wrong girl”
Long live the dry erase board.
The Boss
Saturday night I saw Bruce Springsteen. I had gotten the tickets free through work, and he was playing a solo acoustic show at Phillips Arena. I’ve never bought any of his albums, but I feel he’s one of America’s great songwriters. Listening through the show I only recognized two songs: Lonesome Days and The Rising, but it was one of the most amazing performances I’ve ever seen. I could see his passion for the music when he played and he made me feel it. Watching that kind of passion was breathtakingly beautiful.
Wear Sunscreen
Gentlemen – If you can’t tell if she likes you or just thinks of you as a friend, then she probably thinks you are just friends.
Ladies – If you are always flirting with guys, when one finally comes along that you really like, they’ll never be able to tell a difference.
To Be Loved
words and music by Justin Rosolino
I don’t know why I fear of things that are not there
Or why your touch is sometimes more than I can bear
Or why these broken wings, they fit me like a glove
But I know that I love to know I’m loved
I don’t know why, when I am blinded by the pain
and give my hand to comfort you when you feel the same
The darkness melts away, the sun breaks through above
and I know that I love to know I’m loved
I don’t know why I hate the sound of my own voice
And would you have me sing for you if you had the choice?
Is mine a pretty song, and does it move you enough
For you to know that you love to know you’re loved
So touch me now no matter how I cry or scream
Unless love wakes me I will never rest nor dream
And bind me in your arms, or else I’ll not be free
Nor ever mended whole until love shatters me
I’ll give you all I am and pray that it’s enough
just to know that I’m loved, just to know I am loved, just to know I am loved
80’s Bowling / Tennis
Last night Fusion 20 (Buckhead Church) had an 80’s bowling night. It was fun to see people, and the things they were wearing, but I guess I’m just indifferent about the night as a whole…
This morning I played a tennis match with Shelly whose birthday is today! Of course we lost, but we went from 5-0 in the second set to 6-3 before finally going down. After that was over, Austin and I played two of the older guys, and split sets with them. It was a great feeling because our opponents were not use to loosing! We would have gone three sets, but we were all exhausted.. If we had though, I think we could have taken them =)
From H. -
Fellow Buckhead Church Goers:
Dr. Dave and I were having dinner at my friend John’s place and his
girlfriend Amy made a comment that put Dave and I on the floor
laughing. Both John and Amy are non-Christians. Somehow the topic of
conversation shifted to Church and the following ensued:
Amy: But John you don’t even go to church.
John: Yes I do. I have been to Buckhead Church with H. a few times.
Amy: No, Honey. I mean a REAL church. You know, one with an organ
and a preacher who tells you you are a bad person…
Maybe you just had to be there, but I wanted to share it anyhow. It
was a great moment. Here is to being happy we don’t go to a “real”
church.
Saturday Night
Last night I had dinner with a bunch of friends at the California Pizza Kitchen, and then we went to a party at Betsy Nicholson’s place. A random mix of people at the party, I probably only knew half of them. I’ve been trying to get better at taking pictures because it sure makes it a lot easier to put something up here. Otherwise, it’s just me rambling! First is Tricia and I at the California Pizza Kitchen, second is Eric and Austin at the party, who both had on pink shirts and seersucker pants… and it wasn’t on purpose =)
Fourth of July Weekend
Why do I always feel late updating my webapge? Well, probably because it is late.. like a week late. But that’s cool. So here it is, in short order, my 4th of July weekend.
Thursday night – Screen on the Green -> Grease
Friday night – Batman Begins on Imax (!)
Saturday – Buckles party (pictures below)
Sunday – Helped Rachel move / Ultimate Frisbee / movie at Parkers -> “Legends of the Fall”
Monday – Fireworks at Centinneal Park
Tuesday – Sleep.
At Matt Buckholtz’s party on Saturday Beth took ~90 pictures, and I wasn’t in a single one of them. You’d almost think I was avoiding pictures.. but no. Crazy coincidence! Next time… =)
