So this is what you look like after hiking the Appalation Trail for six months… My brother and I last night about 1:15am. Funny how it looks like he only has two front teeth =)
John finishes the AT
My brother John finished the Appalatian Trail yesterday morning after hiking for six months. Total distance traveled – about 2200 miles – from north Georgia to Maine. He’s now in Boston, and flying home tonight to Atlanta. He just called and his plane has been delayed, so now he’ll get in just after midnight. It’ll be great to see him, but dang, Friday is going to suck at work with such a late night tonight!
Priceless

Don’t worry there’s plenty of dumb to go around.
One year while I was at Auburn one of the cheerleaders was spelling out Auburn with the crowd – you know.. “Gimme an ‘A’”… Well, he misspelled it. Auburn is a tricky word though – two U’s.. I guess he lost his place.. A..U..R? Quite possibly one of the funniest moments of my life.
Football
I just finished watching nine hours of football. It was everything I thought it could be and more.
Tomi From Texas
For the second time in as many weeks I ventured down to Auburn, this time for the Auburn – Ball State game. I wasn’t planning on it but Emily had extra (free) tickets, so it became a no-brainer. This trip was quite special because it was Tomi’s first Auburn (and SEC) football game. In an attempt to make others aware of such a historic trip we always introduced him by saying this is Tomi, from Texas. Though in all honesty I think he was a little underwhelmed by the whole experience, but come on people! It’s Ball State! He did get the grand tour though, even a stop at Toomer’s Drug Store for a tatse of heaven in a plastic cup – lemonade that is.
Again my Aunt Mary Louise and Uncle Dwayne were gracious enough to give us their parking pass. Through all the introductions it turns out my Aunt and Uncle know Sara’s parents from Jacksonville quite well. My mother has always said watch your behavior because you never know when you’ll run into someone who knows your mama. Aparently she’s right.
When we got back to Atlanta we watched the Florida – Tennessee game at Tomi’s. Some others came over and told us how Larry Munson had been talking trash about Auburn for running up the score. Hogwash I say. When your 5th (yes, 5th) string running back takes it 53 yards to house, and then comes right back out on defense and makes two tackles – what do you want us to do?

John Grace
Most of you don’t know my brother John. I did want to post two pictures I received over email though. Since April he and four friends (but two have dropped, so now totaling three people) have been hiking the Appalachian Trail. You know that trail that starts in Georgia and goes up to Maine. I’m really proud of him for doing this – he’s not done yet, but will be soon. It’s something that I’ve always said I wanted to do but deep down knew that I’d never do it. Well, they’re about done now, just crossed in to Maine. I believe they have about 200 miles of hiking left. Someone who met my brother at the top of one mountain took a couple of pictures and sent them to us, so I’m putting them up here. You can tell he hasn’t shaved in a while
They have kept a blog during his trip – Check it out at http://atrail.blogspot.com
Mississippi State
Last weekend Sam, his brother Scott, and I went to Auburn for the Mississippi State game. Good times, Auburn won 28-0. We were able to use my Aunt’s parking pass, so that was a big unexpected plus! I should be more current with these updates, but I’ve got a backlog and I just need to get through them. I also need to put up a couple pictures from Labor Day Retreat in Destin.. These are the State pictures.. it’s a start =)

Cha – cha – cha
We have some sort of punching dummy that lives on our porch. It’s Dave’s and I really don’t know much about it other that it’s a punching dummy.
We took it out and set it up for the slip and slide party a couple weeks ago – even put a shirt and sunglasses on him, he looked spiffy. But oh what a couple weeks in the elements can do. After a week or two he looked like he had a nice patch of chest hair – now a month later, he just looks full on Chia Pet.
Death by Politics
Republicans oppose abortion but support the death penalty
Democrats oppose the death penalty but support abortion
Ironic – don’t ya think?
Famous People Watching
I ate lunch at Felini’s today and while in line stood directly behind Cindy and Ray from Star94. I’m so cool – do you want my autograph?
