Get Excited People!
Auburn Football – only three days away!!!!
War Damn.
Ok Go
I just can’t get enough of this video… It’s also born a cult on You Tube.
Unfortunate
Today I lost respect for Georiga when I picked up my student football tickets. Usually each game features a different player on the front of the ticket, and this year’s Georgia – UAB game features the kickers. Not one kicker, but two – the place kicker AND the punter. That’s just uncalled for.
You know your season is gonna suck when the best the athletic department can come up with is to promote your kicker(s).
Bars
I love just hanging out and talking to people as much as the next guy, but I can’t stand crowded bars. …Especially at the beginning of fall semester in Athens. Apart from the MBA crowd I was with, I swear everyone else looked 19 – it was scary.
Bars are great early in the night, but at a certain point and it almost happens simultaniously…. I realize that I’m exhausted, I can’t hear a thing, and other people I’m with are drunk enough that they aren’t really making sense anyways. That’s when I call it a night =)
Brain Dump
My mother bought me two sets of collegiate napkins – one set Auburn, one set Georgia. For tailgating I assume… but let’s be honest, am I really going to use the UGA ones? Anyone else need 20 UGA napkins? I don’t. (hah)
Last Friday night I helped out a high school friend of mine with an event we was doing in Athens. I ended up making and handing out popcorn to mostly UGA freshmen for six hours. Humm… something about an “unemployed” Auburn graduate handing out popcorn to UGA freshmen… I think there is a joke somewhere in that, but I just can’t put my finger on it.
I’ve been listening to The Fray a lot recently, and they are pretty stinkin good. More than anything though, I love the lyrics. I love analyzing them to try and determine what the writer was going through when it was written. There are so many layers to things, they are never what they seem. Add in the melody and I’m hooked. I honestly believe they are the first mainstream band that I’ve really started to love in I can’t remember when… it’s been years.
I’m going to be the leader of a community group (think pseudo-bible study for the uninitiated) through Athens Church this year. We formed the group Sunday night, and I am SO excited. There’s even another Auburn grad in there! We gotta stick together here in Athens.
Want to know how to avoid those television season finale cliff-hangers each May? Just don’t watch them! I watched an episode of Lost today on tivo for the first time since May – and I’m still two weeks behind… When I eventually get to the season finale, the new season will be ready to go.
Our fantasy football draft isn’t for another two weeks – so we don’t even have our teams yet – and Scouten is already talking trash… I like it.
Sixty Six
With every ending come new beginnings. Cheers.
My **REVISED** Georgia Football Manifesto
About two weeks ago, I placed my order for UGA football tickets. While I did not have enough academic credit hours to be eligible for any important away games this year, I figured I would at least get tickets to all the home games. Yesterday I got an email saying I would only receive tickets to the following 4 home games: UAB, Colorado, Vanderbilt, and Georgia Tech. Since Ga Tech is Thanksgiving weekend, I’m not sure I’ll be in Athens… UAB and Vandy are the LSU/Florida weekends for Auburn and I wasn’t planning on being in Athens anyways.
So, here’s a big “screw you” to the UGA athletic department for only offering me tickets to ONE football game this year that I’ll actually be able to go to (Colorado). Which leads me to reason number 512 why Auburn is better than Georgia – I always got season tickets to *all* home football games.
I will still cheer for Auburn thru Georgia where appropriate, but in the two common SEC East games where it doesn’t really matter – South Carolina & Florida, my allegiance is officially for sale. (Here’s your chance Dalton – impress me.)
My Georgia Football Manifesto
I’ve made it through two days of classes so far, and I’m slowly accepting the fact that I really am attending the University of Georgia. However, there is still one more problem: Football Season.
I haven’t really addressed a core question that many people have asked me since finding out I was headed to Athens – “Are you going to cheer for Georgia durring football season?”. This is a tough question because I refuse to sell out my Auburn roots, but on gamedays being out-numbered 90-something thousand to one…… I’m not an idiot – but now I have a game plan.
You may see me doing something that looks like cheering for Georgia this fall… But do not be decieved! I am actually cheering for AUBURN, thru Georgia.
Hear me out. When Georgia beats a non-conference opponent, Auburn looks better. When Georgia beats an SEC West opponent, it makes it easier for Auburn to win the SEC West. When Georgia beats an SEC East opponent that Auburn does not play (ie: Tennessee this year) it makes Auburn look better when Auburn beats Georgia. And finally, the two remaining dates on UGA’s schedule are vs common SEC East opponents: South Carolina, and Florida. Honestly, I just can’t bring myself to cheer for Steve Spurrier or Florida.
So there it is. My Gerogia Football Manifesto. Remember, if you think you see me cheering for Georgia this fall, you are mistaken. I am really cheering for AUBURN, thru Georgia.
Forgive Me Aubie, For I Have Sinned
Today is the first day of fall classes at UGA. All summer long there weren’t many people here. You could always find a good parking place, and while it was still the University of Georgia, everything wasn’t all bulldogs, all the time. Today is different.
Today there are people EVERYWHERE. Everyone is wearing red and black, and everyone looks like they are 18 years old. Today is the first day that I really feel like I’m attending the University of Georgia with the Bulldogs as I’ve always known them – and I’m a little freaked out by it.
I feel like I’ve sold my Auburn soul to the Devil.
There’s no place like Auburn… There’s no place like home… There’s no place like Auburn… There’s no place like home… There’s no place like Auburn… There’s no place like home… There’s no place like Auburn… There’s no place like home… There’s no place like Auburn… There’s no place like home… There’s no place like Auburn… There’s no place like home… *sigh*
