A Vicious Cycle
A breif recreation of a conversation about a month ago with a buddy who was in the doghouse of a relationship -
Sg: So let me get this straight – she’s being completely irrational, which frustrates you into becoming a total ass, which only makes her even more irrational…?
KB: You got it.
Sg: It’s the classical man vs. the classical woman.
KB: It’s a vicious cycle.
Protecting the not-so-innocent
There are some benefits of facebook news feed stalking, for example, this nugget of gold right on my front page:
Friend is trying to pull is feet from his mouth …as usual. 5:23pm
Friend is now single. 7:06pm
I kinda feel bad for Friend, but seeing it on Facebook – it’s really pretty funny.
Alabama and Georgia Football Comedy Hour
Yesterday was a fun day for me.
Alabama lost in overtime to Arkansas on a missed PAT. I watched it sail wide-right and couldn’t help but go into uncontrollable laughter for a solid five minutes. On the down side, I was watching the game with Mark (bammer #1) and Dave (bammer #2). So much for being humble…
I went to my first UGA game of the year and watched while Georgia *struggled* against 0-3 Colorado, finally putting it together in the last minute of the game to pull out a 1 point victory. I never wanted Georgia to lose (because that makes the SEC, and Auburn, look bad) but seeing how badly they played for 58 minutes was pretty funny =)
On a serious note – sometimes it is better to go ahead and confess your sins publicly, as opposed to letting your friends blackmail you. Yesterday I wore red (with an Auburn Alum pin). I wanted to fit in and show some grad school spirit…. but I realized I’m just not a UGA fan. The low point of the day was being spotted by Miss Emily A – who was in Athens wearing black herself!! (yea, that’s right – I said it) It was a mistake, and it’ll never happen again. From now on – neutral colors only.
Career Fair
Last week I attended a Career Fair at UGA. I always hated these in Auburn – it’s just a big cattle call. But I did witness something funny enough to share.
I was walking behind a guy down one of the rows, where we passed a booth maintained by two women who could not have been more than a year or two out of college themselves. As we passed, the two women tried to get the attention of the guy in front of me, but he just kept walking and didn’t even notice them. Soon after he passed, the women were visably unhappy that they couldn’t get the attention of the hot guy passing by them.
I didnt see what company it was – but thought it was pretty funny that the two recent grads were at the career fair searching for candidates – AND guys.
Perfection
I sat next the the Herty Fountain for 30 minutes today. The weather was perfect, and it was heaven.
Yahoo! Answers
Has anyone else been to Yahoo! Answers? It’s fascinating. It’s a forum where people can ask questions on any topic, and other users provide answers.
There is a relationship section that I occasionally spend time in just answering questions and giving advice. The biggest observation after doing this for a while is how badly sex in dating makes people completely illogical, emotional, and utterly insane. Not that I needed examples to know it’s true, but the degree to which I read about it is truly amazing – and heartbreaking. It appears a LOT of high school kids are dealing with the issue there, and I just want to scream at the top of my lungs – RUN!!!! But you compassionately answer the best you can – and it’s the same question in different forms over and over again…. I only hope someone listens every once in a while…..
There’s also a wonderful religion section – people asking real questions in a place where they are open to hearing the answers. Reading some of the other answers in that section can be scary though, as even well intentioned people have some scary sounding theology. I’d encourage people to go there and answer questions if only to make sure you know what YOU believe. If you can’t explain it to someone else, are you really sure you know what it is?
I’ve never asked a question on Yahoo Answers (there are many other topics btw…), but I’m generally pretty good at being objective, so I usually know the answer – whether or not I like it is completely different!
Bruno Goes To Alabama
Bruno, a character of the Ali G show, went to the University of Alabama in the first 2:30 of this clip. It is so funny, I had to watch it twice. (It’s tough to see in the youtube version, but the graphic on the intro actually reads “Mississippi State vs Alabama State”)
Seinfeld
So, I realize I’m a minimum eight years behind the curve on this – but when did Seinfeld get so dang funny? I remember watching it when it was on back in the day and the whole thing went over my head. I saw an episode the other day, and it’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen!
My Tivo also picked up an episode of Yes, Dear and really enjoyed it. I was still working at Carat when this show was on, and I never remember it doing anything, but it’s really well written…
Auburn – LSU
I was able to snag a ticket for the game, so I’m boarding the Sam Serio Excursion express to Auburn tomorrow! It’s gonna be a killer game, and I’m pumped.
College Game Day will NOT be in Auburn this weekend for the highest profile game of the week. Which once again proves my theory – ESPN hates Auburn. I also think they’d seriously consider broadcasting from the Los Angeles Coliseum on USC’s bye week….
War Damn.
REM @ the 40 Watt
Tonight I went to a tribute to REM tonight at the 40 Watt in Athens. Many different bands played REM songs, and REM themselves were there and played too. Unfortunately REM played early, before I got there, but at the end of the night they all came back on stage and did Radio Free Europe and It’s The End Of The World As We Know It…. So, I feel good enough to say I’ve seen REM at the 40 Watt in Athens. It was awesome.
