Adventures in Driving
My driver’s license expired on my birthday (10/10), and I had no idea until a bouncer at the Arch Bar last weekend noticed for me. Since it was the second time I entered the bar that night, he didn’t give me too much grief.
Tuesday night I went to the 40 Watt to see Mute Math, and still I had yet to renew my license. Only this time the bouncer really balked at it. Now I understand it’s their job to check ID’s for fakes, but do you really think there’s any possible chance that I’m under 21? Please… But to make things easier for everyone, I wore the “under 21″ black hand stamp all night.
While driving to the Mute Math show I used my left turn signal, but after the turn, it wouldn’t turn off. So, I got to drive around Athens for 10 minutes looking for a parking space with my blinker on. I’m sure people thought I was brilliant.
Now imagine if I had run into a cop that night – A moron driving with his blinker on, an expired driver’s license, and an expired insurance card (I noticed that too – mind you I’ve paid it, I just didn’t have the card on me). They probably would have taken me to jail.
I’ve updated and re-newed everything since Tuesday =)
Saturday Breakfast
I met Melissa M. this morning for breakfast, and it was so nice to catch up with her. Most of ya’ll know her, as a surprisingly large number of visitors to this page come from *her* page! (reader’s note: I’ve decided against using people’s full names on this site because if your name is out there – google will find you)
Fall Break
Georgia’s fall break was this Thursday / Friday. I spent that time visiting family in Tennessee. Driving to and from, I couldn’t help but marvel at the colors of the leaves. They were fantastically beautiful.
Atlanta Thrashers
I understand that I’m in the vast minority here, but people should really watch the Thrashers. They beat the best team in the NHL tonight, the Buffalo Sabres, who before tonight had yet to loose and began the season 10-0-0. The game itself was electrifying – it felt like a playoff game. Hockey is such a beautiful sport.
Football
Auburn Beat Ole Miss today. No points for style, but a win is a win.
Any day Southern Cal looses is a beautiful day.
The South Carolina Fight Song sounds like it’s straight out of Looney-Tunes.
Watching a lot of football this season, I’ve noticed that not all of the sideline reporters are up to code. Note to the networks – sideline reporters aren’t paid for their knowledge of the game of football. Does that make me a horrible, shallow, male chauvinist pig? Probably.
My Roommate, The Drag Queen
Mark, in costume as the winner of the “Dude Looks Like A Lady” Pagent to help raise money for the Breast Cancer Three Day Walk.

And here’s the video of Mark’s reaction to his victory. Make sure you have the sound on!
Athens / Atlanta Music Alert – MUTE MATH
If you are in Athens – You should be at the 40 Watt on Tuesday, Oct 24 for Mute Math.
They also play in Atlanta at The Roxy on Friday, Oct 27. Be there.
Calling the Dawgs
While at the UGA game vs Mississippi State last weekend, H. (who played college ball himself) called the exact play that Georgia ran right before it happened. I was amazed.
Unfortunately, so did the Mississippi State defensive coordinator – dropping the Dawgs for a loss.
I haven’t met a single UGA fan who is excited about the World’s Largest Cocktail Party this weekend….. It could get ugly…
Good Will Hunting
I was recently reminded of a scene from Good Will Hunting… Such an amazing movie.
Quote of the Day
From Men In Trees, two men are talking about one (sober) guy’s issues with women when the other says:
I’ve had twelve beers tonight, and I’m seeing clearer than you are!
