New Music
I have my ‘Top 40′ guilty pleasures like most, but the majority of the music I listen to never makes it to the radio. I won’t lie, I like it that way. All my favorite artists play small venues and visit fairly often. The best part is arriving early for the opening acts. It’s hit or miss, but more often than not I find gold. It happened again last weekend at the Matt Wertz show in Atlanta.
Nathan Angelo could be easily compared to Maroon 5 and Jason Mraz. Piano centric with infectious melody – it’s the best CD I’ve bought in a while. There are several standout tracks, but my favorite is Mary Poppins’ Birds. Check out his website.
Done, and done.
My MBA coursework came to an abrupt (though not un-welcomed) halt today. In my final class the professor decided to make the exam optional. After being presented a thorough explanation of the options, I came to the conclusion that scoring the needed 108 to raise my overall grade in the class would be difficult at best. Statistical impossibilities aside, we’ll just say opting out of the final exam was an easy decision.
Next Stop: Graduation!
Almost Over
After a big presentation on Friday, I have exactly two things left to do before graduation – attend one class, and take one exam.
Where did all the time go? I never thought leaving Atlanta for a year would the end of the world but quite frankly, it feels like I just left!
I am ready to come back though, and that’s a good thing. To a small extent, I feel like I put my life on hold for the year I went back to school. While this year has been unforgettable, I’m excited to start moving the career forward again.
Though before beginning work, I’ll be headed off on another traveling adventure – India, Nepal, and Tibet. I’ve mentioned it before, but not recently. My father told me that I’ll need to invest $250 in shots this week. That’s a doctor’s visit I’m not really looking forward to…
Free Widespread Panic
Widespread isn’t exactly my kind of music, but it’s the type of band that every music aficionado should see live at least once. For me, it was last night. Widespread Panic is in the middle of three shows (I believe) at the Classic Center in Athens, and I was able to get in to last night’s show for free – by volunteering to serve as an usher. I spent the entire show inside the main theater, directing people to their seats. I wasn’t able to watch it all as I was working, but I could watch parts, and I did hear it all. My post was facing the middle balcony which turned out to make for fantastic people watching.
Alcohol was not allowed inside the theater the previous night, but the restriction was lifted when I was there. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen happier people when they found out they could take beer into the theater. It was interesting how many guests (who were quite drunk/high/whatever) really wanted to talk to me. I got several completely random hugs. They were definitely some happy people…
The best part of the event was receiving 6 hours towards my service requirements to graduate UGA!
Welcome Home
Welcome to the new Delusions of Grandeur. This page started in early 2003, and I had used the same template since day one. It was time for an upgrade.
Please take a look around! New features include the use of categories, extra pages at the top left corner (about, photos) and search capability. My favorite feature though is the title banner that rotates depending on the time of day.
Extra special thanks to Garon Griffiths and Amanda Bottoms for helping make this possible!
The Times They Are A-Changin’
Life is about to begin a series of major changes for me. I figure now is a good time to make a change here too. Stay tuned.
MBA Phrase of the Day
Convergent Validity – If everyone else says it, then it must be true.
(This is not a fun week)
Take A Survey – Maybe Win $50?
Below you will find a link to a survey about your online video viewing habits. Please consider taking less than 5 minutes to complete the survey. All completed responses will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Visa Gift Card. The survey is in conjunction with work that I am doing in my MBA program for the Organizational Design and Intervention consulting class.

You know you want to take the survey – it sure beats doing actual work! =)
Thanks!!
Unleash the Fury!
I love the Atlanta Thrashers marketing department – they do a fantastic job. Here is a great video they played during game one of the playoffs against the New York Rangers. Of course I didn’t get there in time to see it live… I hate Atlanta traffic…..
The only thing better than Thrashers playoff hockey is an Auburn Football rivalry game.
The Playoff Beard is Back!
On the occasion of the Atlanta Thrashers’ first playoff appearance, I will be joining the team in growing my own playoff beard. In a tradition like no other sport, players do not shave for the duration of their run for the Stanley Cup. I too, will not shave until the Thrashers are eliminated from contention for Lord Stanley’s Cup.
(***With the noted exception of job interviews and weddings. Let’s not get out of hand here people…)
