Heard On A Recent Delta Flight…
“This a seatbelt. If you do not know how to operate one of these, please ring your call button and alert a flight attendant. We will be happy to pull back into the gate as you are obviously not ready for air travel.”
Political Commentary
I’m starting to pay attention to the political races, and spent some time watching the Republican Debate tonight. Some interesting thoughts..
Every Republican debate includes a segment where all the candidate publicly pledge allegiance to Ronald Regan.
Ron Paul was not included by Fox News in a New Hampshire debate last weekend, and I thought he probably should have been there since everyone else was. After watching him tonight, I understand why he wasn’t in the last debate… Two words: Sideshow Clown.
Rudi Guliani – I like Rudi, but His campaign has taken so long to get going by not participating in Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan and South Carolina, instead focusing on Florida. Rudi and John McCain own a lot of the same political space, and I think McCain’s momentum will be too much for Rudi to overcome by the time Florida gets here.
John McCain – The more I hear from McCain, the more I like him. I would say he’s my second choice at this point.
Mitt Romney – I realize that everyone gives backhanded compliments from time to time, but Romney seems to be going after the others a little too much for my taste. While I can’t say I disagree with any of his policies specifically, I just don’t like his demeanor. Just not sure I can trust him.. he seems too polished… I also have a hard time supporting for president someone who belongs to the Mormon faith – classically defined as a cult by most of the Christian denominations. I was also in Salt Lake City (Mormon headquarters) over the fall, and there’s something about that town… it’s just a bit weird. I can’t put my finger on it.
Fred Thompson – I like Thompson, he just won’t win.
Mike Huckabee – If the Georgia Republican primary were held today, I’d vote for Huckabee. I think he’s a little short on foreign policy, but I agree with most of his positions (especially the Fair Tax, though it would be difficult to implement). His ministry past is also a big plus with me. Loved the answer to his question about religion and marriage.
Things are heating up, and it will be fun to watch!
