NYC

Work is sending me to New York all next week, and I’m pretty excited about it. I’m leaving on Saturday to spend time with my brother who lives up there. On top of that, due to an airfare situation, I get to fly first class going up there! In all my travels, I’ve never gotten to ride in first class on an airplane. Not that it’s a huge deal, but I’m still excited. Saturday night my brother and I are going to see Rent on Broadway. I’ve actually never seen it before, even though I’ve heard so many good things about it. Other than that, I’ve really got nothing planned. It should be a good weekend.

Nascar

I watched a fair amount of the Daytona 500 today with a friend of mine who actually knows something about Nascar. While I guess I’ve always dismissed it as a crazy redneck sport, when you have someone to explain things to you, it actually starts to make sense. I may not become a nascar fan, but for the first time I had an appreciation for it.

Note to self: Don’t finish watching a Nascar race, and then immediately get in your car and get on the interstate. It’s just a really bad idea. Especially when it’s raining.

I’ve always heard that Nascar is the fastest growing sport in America. It was really interesting to watch the commercials today. These advertisers weren’t playing around… You can always tell the level of the programing, by who the advertisers are. A whole race weekend must become a marketing extravaganza.. Motor speedways can seat roughly 150,000 people.

(I bought a new pair of jeans yesterday. I never thought something like that would make me so happy. Granted, they’re now the only pants I own that actually fit)

House

After a long, long time, it’s finally time to begin the process of buying a house. I don’t have intentions of doing anything real soon, but I need to start the process. It’s been very interesting to learn about everything involved, and I’m really excited about it. I’ve already lined up all the people necessary for the transaction (realtor, mortgage people, etc…). Now I just want to sit back and watch the market for a while. Hopefully I’ll be able to pull the trigger sometime this summer. We’ll see how it goes!

Weighing In

It never ceases to amaze me how the frequency of my posting is always completely irrelevant to the number of visitors this page attracts. I’ve not really posted anything of substance in coming up on a month, yet there were twice as many visitors today than normal. While I’ve never really cared how many people read this, the page’s statistics are always entertaining.

So, yea. It’s been about a month. I’m not really sure what to tell you, other than I just haven’t felt like putting anything up. It has no correlation to my schedule… I hope this won’t continue, but I make no promises.

I usually don’t post too many personal things, mainly because I just don’t know who’s reading, but I thought I’d make an exception.

Since a little before the beginning of the year (though in no way, shape, or form related to making a New Year’s Resolution), I decided it was time to make a change in the way I eat. I stopped living to eat, and began only eating to live. That’s a huge change. Step two was putting myself on ‘the plan’ – a new self conceived dietary system (completely devoid of all medical advisement and common sense, mind you) that contains no guidelines about what food is actually on the plan. On the contrary, ‘the plan’ is only able to identify what is not on the plan. For example, french fries? Not on the plan. Admittedly, to bystanders, the rules of ‘the plan’ have been quite confusing, and are truthfully more of a guideline… but I digress.

After about a month and a half, some things have started to change… It’s been a good change.
