Start Wasting My Time
I’d say that I’m a little elitist in my taste in music, but recently, even I was surprised with myself.
Teitur (a singer singer song writer from the Faroe Island) recently released an album that I previewed a little on iTunes, but wasn’t really impressed. It just sounded …odd. This was particularly interesting because Teitur is one of my favorite artists, period. In all my musical repertoire, there’s one of Teitur’s songs that I easily classify as my favorite song of all time.
I saw him play to a crowd of about 30 last week, and the entire performance drunkenly walked the line of brilliance and insanity. I almost didn’t know what to think when I left, but I did buy his new album. Now a week later, I can’t stop listening to it. There are still a couple songs that I don’t yet understand… but the rest of the album is absolutely brilliant.
Thinking it through, I came up with the metaphor that his album is a lot like contemporary art. Most people will probably think it’s complete crap… but for those who understand it, it’s a masterpiece unlike anything else.

Vanity Plates
Why do people feel the need to get vanity plates for their cars? I probably noticed 5-7 of them on my way home from the office today, and on top of that, at least three used the letters “LUV” in some form or fashion in the name. Unfortunately I can’t remember any of them off the top of my head.. though granted, I couldn’t read most of them either.
I at least understand getting a vanity plate that says something that the average passing motorist can decipher. But what’s the point if you’re the only one who knows, and then you have to keep explaining it to all your friends, while they look at you like you’re an idiot?
Takes one to know one I guess… While I was in college, I had an Auburn University, Alabama state tag that read “W3RD”. Go figure that one out…
At least I’ve learned my lesson!
