Dominio

Recently I heard “Domino” by Van Morrison on the radio. It’s a song that everyone should recognize, but may not be familiar with. It’s a great song, so I downloaded it from iTunes. After listening to it for a while and looking up the lyrics, I’ve decided that in this song Van Morrison has some sort of turrets syndrome that forces him to randomly yell 60’s catch phrases throughout the song. See the following list, in order -

Get it
it’s all right
Lord, have mercy
Say it again
Dig It
All right
Hit it
All right
Hey, all right
Say it again
Hey, hit it
Uh-uh, all right
Uh-uh, all right
Uh-uh, all right
Uh-uh
Hear the band
One more time

The song is 3:09 long, so that works out to a 60’s catch phrase every 11.1 seconds.

Shades of Beige

I found labeled, room-specific paint cans in the shed behind my house. They were left by the former occupants who, as it were, are from south east Asia. I was very grateful of the find to be able to do some touch up painting – mainly because while all the rooms in my house are beige, it’s not the same shade.

These particular paint cans in my shed were a bit old and faded. While it was hard to read the labeling on some of them, after a double take, one was clear as day – Ruandry Room. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

The last time I wrote anything of substance on here was August… Quite frankly it’s been on purpose. Half because of a busy schedule, and half because I’ve felt like I just didn’t have anything to say. I hope this isn’t a sign that the blog is fading away, but the fact that I’m writing this is probably encouraging. The lack of frequent postings has run off just about everyone with the exception of the random visitor, and the truly bored. I like that. I’ve said it before – I never intended to create this for anyone else, though I always appreciate the company. That and I figure I couldn’t bring myself to write in some sort of pink diary with a lock on it.

I went down to Auburn this past weekend for the Auburn – Georgia game. Funny how things change as you get older. I used to read every article I could find on the team, and I knew most players by their number. These days I don’t read any articles, and I’d be hard pressed to name more than a handful of Auburn players without phoning a friend. The good news though is that there are still only a few things better in this world than being in Auburn on a Saturday in the fall. This last Saturday in particular we lost, but I couldn’t have otherwise enjoyed myself more. Good friends, good food, good times. (by the way… beware Alabama – the Iron Bowl won’t be a cake walk!)

I’m not convinced that I still have much to say… but I’ll be on the lookout.

Auto Bailouts

Over the years, the government has bailed out the American auto industry on multiple occasions, and now the industry is looking for another handout.

As the saying goes… Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Let’s stop this corporate welfare. The free market works just fine – stupid decisions are met with consequences. It’s time to pay the piper.

Netflix

I joined Netflix the other day, and I love it! Anyone else using it? Their friends feature is really cool. If anyone else is using it add me – sg AT stewartgrace DOT com
